Timo Arnall is a designer working with interactive products and media. He leads an international research project on mobile technology, collaborates on interaction design work and lectures in design, physical computing and design methodology. Timo’s work spans design, media and technology; interested in the ways in which products are adopted in everyday life, the emergent uses of new technologies and the design of services in local contexts and situations. His design work includes projects on the web, location-based and mobile services, film and interactive television production, motion graphics, installations and exhibitions.

Chris Bernard is a user experience evangelist for Microsoft. His job is working with the software design, development and business domains to communicate Microsoft's position on the importance of user experience in software design.

Formerly he was a creative director in a large technology focused professional services company. He brings over 14 years of expertise in design, consulting, strategy, business frameworks, design research, analysis, synthesis, planning and implementation. Chris used to focus mostly on motion graphic and interactive design but these days he finds himself usually working on transactional Web-based applications and design specification artifacts. His mission as a design professional is to apply the principles of contextual research, cultural, human, physical and social factors to the products, services and systems that he develops.

Ritch is currently the Director of AT&T Mobility Network Services. He has spent his entire career (35+ years) in the telecommunications industry, with the past ten years focused on mobile and wireless. Prior to that he worked on the landline side of AT&T, handling everything from local and long distance service to the launch of the company’s WorldNet internet service. 

During his time in wireless he’s been involved in the development of new wireless technologies, deployment of wireless networks, and in delivering new devices, applications and services to market.  He also works closely with AT&T’s technology group, which is currently in the process of developing and planning future wireless technologies, such as 4G.

Senior Software Experience Designer

Duane Bray is a partner at IDEO where he heads the firm’s global Software Experiences practice. Duane joined IDEO in 1995 to lead and develop the discipline of interaction design, now one of the firm’s most sought-after capabilities.

With a background in communication design and interaction design, Duane has led or contributed to scores of projects at IDEO, from product interaction to interactive exhibits, to software for the desktop, the Web, and mobile platforms. Recent projects have focused on more strategic programs and larger client relationships, such as design language initiatives that address a range of platforms and customers. Among Duane’s client relationships he counts Microsoft as a long-term partner, having worked closely with the technology company for more than 10 years across multiple divisions. Also included in his client list are AT&T Wireless/Cingular, Xerox, BMW, United Airlines, Texas Instruments, and SAP, who Duane assisted in forming a human-centered division for sustained innovation.

His experience includes the development of major software and hardware programs and the integration of emerging technologies into human-centered products and services. In response to the increasing crossover between technology and lifestyle companies, Duane continues to explore in his work the intersection of technology and people, revealing and elevating the emotional connections that people forge with digital media.

Prior to IDEO, Duane worked at Pentagram Design, where he established an interaction design practice in their San Francisco studio. Duane holds an MF from the University of Florida and was recently awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award as a prestigious alumnus. Duane counts bubblegum pop music and his customized Mini Cooper among his other passions and pursuits.

As an award-winning graphic journalist and an instructor at Washington University, Dave combines his experience as a teacher, journalist and designer to help our clients deploy visual thinking as a strategic communication tool.

His prior work includes journalism posts with the LA Daily News, LA Herald Examiner, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and teaching positions with Washington University in St. Louis’ School of Art and the Olin School of Business. His work has received numerous awards from the Associated Press News Executives Association and the Society of News Design. Dave earned a BFA at the Art Center College of Design at Pasadena.

Jody Haneke has an extensive background in user experience design and information architecture. Haneke has developed and managed design solutions for companies including AT&T, PEPSICO, Target, Simon & Schuster, Lucent Technologies, Perot Systems, PeopleSoft and TMP Worldwide (Monster.com). Previously, Haneke co-founded Mediacentric Group, an interactive agency, where he built and managed a design studio consisting of 20+ user interface designers, digital illustrators and animators. In addition, his design work has been published internationally and has received numerous awards. Haneke holds a BFA from Ringling School of Art and Design where he majored in graphic and interactive communication. Currently, Haneke is President of Haneke Design, a graphic and interactive communications firm based in Tampa FL. Haneke Design is currently focused on providing user interface design solutions for all platforms including kiosks, web and mobile devices.

As General Manager of Electronic Arts – Tiburon, Philip Holt is responsible for the management of EA’s Orlando Studio, which is responsible for creating some of the best selling titles in the industry, Madden NFL Football, NCAA Football, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, and NASCAR. His responsibility includes overseeing all aspects of design, production, engineering, and content creation for top EA SPORTS titles. 

Prior to joining EA, Philip was the senior vice president of product development for interactive entertainment developer and publisher THQ. He also had served as vice president of product development and operations at THQ-owned software developer, Volition, Inc. Before joining THQ, Philip worked for EA in its Seattle development studio, where he was the development director for multiple EA SPORTS branded FIFA videogames.

Matt Jones is a designer. He was creative director for the award-winning BBC News Online and Sapient’s London studio in the first boom, then at the BBC in 2001 for the BBC’s web search and a geo-located social network. From 2003, he joined Nokia in design research, then as a Director of UX Design. He is one of the founders/lead designer of Dopplr.com, a service for frequent travelers.

Dave Meeker is a user experience strategy lead at Roundarch, an experience-focused design and development consultancy that services the fortune 500. As a thought leader in the user experience And creative technology communities, he regularly writes and speaks about next generation creative technology and the impact of digital interactions on business and society.

At Roundarch, Dave is responsible for the strategic direction taken on client engagements, fostering innovation, and management of relationships with both Adobe and Microsoft (as related to next-generation Web, mobile and other screen-based experiences.

Dave has been leading digital design and development projects for 14 years, and has been focused on "rich client" technologies and the importance of user experience since 1995. Rex Miller is a futurist, business leader, theologian, strategic consultant and communications expert. Vice President of Creative - Reel FX Entertainment/Aimesworth Amusements

Brandon began his career as a co-founding member of Reel FX in 1995 doing a combination of design and special effects for television and film. There he worked with such clients as Troublemaker Studios, Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks and Blue Sky Studios. Early on, Brandon recognized the potential for limitless storytelling with computer animation.

As Senior Creative Director for the first 10 years of the company Brandon helped establish Reel FX's national reputation as a premier animation studio. Since 1998, Oldenburg has overseen a joint venture with famed author and illustrator, William Joyce (Robots & Meet the Robinsons.) What started out as an experimental puppet show evolved into a joint venture to create three feature films. Joyce and Oldenburg's other collaborations include Halloween decor for Martha Stewart, Parade Floats for Disney Theme Parks and Installations for The 100th Anniversary Exhibit for Peter Pan. Most recently they sold a story, 10 years in the making, to Dreamworks.

Oldenburg's work has won many industry accolades most recently an Inspire Design Award for Best Title Design in a Feature Film. Other works include multi-media installations, experimental puppet, painting and giant metal sculpture. Brandon has conducted many interviews with industry publications including Cinefex, Post, Screen and Boards Magazine.

Brandon's Illustrations have graced the covers for such prestigious author��s books as Elmore Leonard and Michael Chabon. A '95 Graduate of Ringling School of Art and Design, Brandon holds a B.F.A. in Illustration and a D.F.O. from the Lunar Lamadary in Nepal. He also holds a seat on the American Film Institute's Board of Directors and serves as Artistic Director of AFI's Texas Avery Animation Award.

Ryan Stewart works as a Rich Internet Application Evangelist for Adobe Systems. He has been tracking the RIA space and doing RIA development for about 3 years through his personal blog and his blog on ZDNet, the Universal Desktop. He has an Economics degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently based in Seattle.

Joseph Tankersley is a writer, producer and communication futurist. For nearly 25 years he has helped organizations create compelling messages about themselves, their goals and visions for their futures. He has worked with national and international corporations, NGO’s and national governments.

Joseph has been a member of Walt Disney Imagineering since 1996. Much of his work with WDI has involved exploring new forms of story telling. For the past four years, Joe has led creative teams developing new projects for Innoventions at Epcot. In this capacity he has created immersive experiences that employ cutting edge story telling technology to “entertain, enlighten and empower.”

Charles Warren is a Senior User Experience Designer on Google's Mobile product development team, where he designs applications for iPhone and Android users, as well as for users in developing markets like Africa, India, and China. He's also responsible for Google Mobile's front-end product-concept development process.

Prior to Google, Charles was a design lead in IDEO's Software Experience Design Practice, where he led projects for Nokia and ABC Television among other clients. Prior to joining IDEO in 2002, Charles was involved in a number of early-stage technology and consulting businesses, including the web consulting firm Scient, (where he helped launch Scient's Innovation Acceleration Lab in San Francisco), the Idea Factory, and Cactus. His first job after college was at Pace Prints in New York City where he collaborated on printmaking projects with artists like Chuck Close and Peter Halley.

Tom Wujec adds serious play in mapping this year's Summit.

Tom Wujec has produced stunning illustrated records of some of the world's leading business and design conferences, including the Fortune Innovation Conference and TED. During this year's Design Summit, Wujec will record each speaker's key ideas in a collection of sketches that colorfully depict the central topics, areas of concern, and innovation practices. He will also lead a series of interactive activities that will allow participants to arrange these images (as well as their own) into insightful and useful "idea maps" to discover the ideas that are most practical in the short- and long-term; which ones offer the most dramatic insight, and in what aspects of each participant's business they can be applied most effectively.

At the close of the conference, Wujec will present his sketches, summarize the full range of topics presented, and reflect on trends and patterns that have emerged. This activity will provide a unique opportunity for participants to synthesize the conference topics into their own personal representations of what works, what's worth trying and how their business can be elevated and expanded using what they've learned.. Wujec will make the concept sketches and idea maps available on-line immediately after the close of conference.

Tom Wujec is a Fellow and Principal Consultant at Autodesk, the Oscar- winning industry leader in 3D computer animation technology.
