iPhone Application Developer to Speak at Design Summit

Topics Include $1 Applications, Mobile Communications and the Power of Gaming
Sarasota, Fla. – (Oct. 8, 2008) – Dom Sagolla, founder of DollarApp, will speak at the Ringling College of Art and Design’s Sarasota International Design Summit about developing dollar applications for the iPhone. The Summit, Oct. 27 – 29 at the Ritz Carlton, Sarasota, will host some of the world’s leading experts in what’s next in visual communications, social media and mobile technologies. Sagolla will discuss emerging software for the global market, iPhone application development and the future of mobile communications.
Sagolla develops applications people can download to their iPhones at a cost of just $1.
“It's shocking what is possible in a short period of time as an iPhone Developer. The thousands of applications created and shipped in the few months since the App Store launch are testaments to that,” Sagolla said. “There are three types of winners in software: the first, the best and the free. DollarApp is first to market, not free but it’s offered at a simple price. You charge just enough, and the product is unbeatable.”
He believes the next two to three years will mean a hefty increase in mobile software usage.
“The iPhone itself is a lightning rod for anyone thinking about the mobile market,” said Sagolla. “It provides simplicity, ease of use, a short experience, in and out in 30 seconds, while they’re waiting for an elevator or watching their kid’s soccer game. A low price point enables more people to have these types of experiences."
Sagolla says that in the next few years, mobile communications will be more widespread. In fact around the world, especially in second and third world countries, Sagolla expects many people will leapfrog the desktop and go straight to wireless.
“We’ll see a generation of people who never have had a sense of the power of the desktop,” Sagolla said. He believes this will mean even more power to mobile communications as everything done on a desktop computer will have to be translated and available on a mobile device.
The third annual summit, Design + Technology: Visual. Social. Mobile., provides an opportunity to meet and mingle with the top designers, technology professionals and thought leaders in visual communications, social media and mobile media today.
